Weekend Reflections; Stuck Inside Thanks to Icy Rain

This weekend was just the worst of the worst in terms of weather. Saturday was bitterly cold and windy and Sunday the streets and sidewalks were covered by the most slippery blanket of ice thanks to non stop rain in weather that wasn’t quite cold enough for snow. Is it crazy that I would have actually preferred snow? On Sunday morning Dan and I woke up to go to the gym but once we saw how icey it was, we thought better of it. We slipped and slided as we walked as slow as possible to our car. As we watched a car slide helplessly backward down the hill our own car was parked on top of we realized how unsafe the driving conditions were. Instead of heading to the gym we walked back up our block stopping for bagels and coffee. We sat in the coffee shop and watched cars literally slide into each other and people dangerously standing in the middle of the icey streets trying to halt other cars from passing through. The conditions were horrendous. There was literally nothing to do but stay safely indoors. Luckily, my mom had given us one of her Blue Apron meals to test out so we spent the day relaxing, watching 2 and a half seasons of Sons of Anarchy and cooking. We were both really impressed by the Blue Apron meal, which is surprising considering what a control freak I am when it comes to cooking.

Friday lunch date at The Grey Dog, as usual.

Another bummer for this weekend was being hit with the worst cramps I’ve had in a long while. I pretty much lived on the couch in agony trying to read to take my mind of the pain and massaging this heat pack cheetah over my lower abdomen.

Puppy playdate! Gatsby and Chewy had such a fun afternoon at my parent’s house.

As always, I had to take advantage of my mom’s awesome selfie mirror.

Yet another awesome new milk find. Milk from cows not fed any antibiotics or hormones and it’s lower sugar AND higher protein than regular skim milk. Such a win, I should have bought way more than one!

My mom was obsessed with the Puppacino thing. She loved treating Gatsby to it!

Weekends are made for froyo…especially when the toppings include funfetti batter pieces…

Weekends are for beer..

How could I pass up this awesome Hawaiian brew? We drank this beer while we were in Kona and it takes me right back to our honeymoon.

Gatsby has all his adult doggy teeth in now and you know what that means? Time to start brushing them! He was surprisingly so good and seemed to enjoy having his teeth brushed. I guess the massage of the brush felt good on still tender gums.

Gatsby had a really big weekend. He had his first training session with our fantastic dog trainer who said Gatsby is a very smart pup (and also very sensitive, which we already knew!). He also hit the dog park, got a shot at the vet and had a bath! Little guy is pooped.

Hope you all had a great weekend and were safe in this icy rainstorm! Stay warm and have a great week!
